This Saturday will be a brand new start of their shared life: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will wed on May 19, 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, where Prince Harry was christened.
This royal wedding will definitely catch the eyes of the whole world and people are actually expecting much solemnity as it usually does. But we can probably look forward to a surprising wedding day, as the couple announced in November 2017 that they are planning their own wedding celebration that “reflects the characters of the bride and groom”.
How the royal love story began and developed
It’s not completely clear how or when Harry and Meghan first met, but it’s thought that the couple may have been introduced by a mutual friend in July 2016. On 8 November of the year, the relationship of the couple was officially confirmed by the Kensington Palace. After dating for one year, the big news came on 27 November 2017, when Kensington Palace announced the couple was engaged to be married and Meghan was spotted appearing with the royal family in public. And finally, as everyone knows, their wedding ceremony will take place on May 19 2018.
What the royal family says about the relationship
The prince of the United Kingdom marrying a US film star – this is absolutely new in the history of the British royal family. But apparently the family has no problem at all with accepting the American star as a new family member. Let’s see how Prince Harry’s family reacts to this relationship.
– “[We] look forward to welcoming new members into [our family] next year,” –Queen Elizabeth, Christmas day Speech, December 2017
– “We’re thrilled, thank you very much, for both of them. I hope they’ll be very happy, indeed, is all I can say. It’s marvelous.” –Prince Charles, the announcement of Meghan and Harry’s engagement, November 2017.
– “Absolutely thrilled — it’s brilliant. And, as I said, America’s loss is our gain. We’re all absolutely delighted. As you can see, they’re so happy. And sometimes, in a climate where we’re surrounded by a lot of bad news, it’s a real joy to have a bit of good news for once. And, as I said before, we’re delighted,” –Camila Parker Bowles, the announcement of Meaghan and Harry’s engagement, November 2017.
– “We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together,” –Will and Kate’s statement, the announcement of Meghan and Harry’s engagement, November 2017.
Traditional celebration or crazy party?
Now the only question remaining is: what will the wedding celebration be like? Since Prince Harry and Meghan will take the lead of the wedding day on their own, we can quite likely witness a very special and memorable royal wedding ceremony.
Want to share these joyful moments of Prince Harry and Meghan? No problem! The wedding will be also live streamed on the internet on May 19 starting at 10.30am BST / 9.30am GMT. Here we wish the couple lots of love and happiness and you guys have fun watching!
