It’s not only a gaming trade fair, where global companies show off their new comings; it’s also a great get-together of gamers and fans from all over the world – that’s why gamescom can attract such a number of exhibitors and visitors to Cologne every year. In 2017, the leading European trade fair for digital gaming culture will even be much bigger, as more than 900 exhibitors are expected this year – a 20% increase from 2016. Furthermore, the gaming show will also extend into hall 1 of the exhibition grounds, which sees it stretch across 201,000 square meters – a 4% size increase from last year. The much-anticipated gamescom 2017 will take place from 22 to 26 August, bringing a breath of fresh air for the development of the entertainment industry as always.
Without any doubt, we can expect some exciting news from big names, no matter about video games or equipments.
Microsoft
Microsoft has announced 2 live events yet. After Microsoft revealed the Xbox One X at E3 2017, it will be the first time Xbox One X will be on the ground in Europe and Microsoft has a huge line up of 27 playable games for the Xbox One family of devices and Windows 10 PC from developers around the world. On August 20, from 9.00pm CEST, new gameplays, including Forza Motorsport 7, Age of Empires: Definitive Edition and Sea of Thieves, will be presented during the live stream, featuring talks with developers and other surprises. In addition, Microsoft will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Age of Empire at gamescom, alongside some of its biggest fans. The livestream on August 21, at 9.00pmCEST will celebrate the rich history of the beloved PC game series, as well as give fans a first-look at Age of Empires: Definitive Edition.
At the Xbox booth, gamers in Germany can get hands on Xbox One X for the very first time and will be able to play a wide collection of the games coming to Xbox over the next 12 months. On August 22, Microsoft will hold a FanFest exclusively for all Xbox fans who are attending gamecoms.
EA
As a pioneer in gaming industry, EA has announced its concrete plan for the gamescom 2017 already in July. It’s going to be a live show on August 21 at 6.30pm CEST, where fans can look forward to new gameplay, live matches, and a few surprises from EA.
Moreover, from August 22 to 26, players can expect nearly 400 gameplay stations within the EA gamescom booth. There, those that join EA in Cologne, will be able to get hands-on with Star Wars, Battlefront II, FIFA 18, Battlefield and more. Live entertainment, such as gameplay deep dives, producer interviews, competitions and music performances, will give visitors an unforgettable experience at the EA booth.
Nintendo
The Nintendo booth at gamescom 2017 is set to showcase some of this year’s biggest games for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS family systems. On 23 August at 15:00 CEST, viewers can get a fresh look at gameplay with a special developer talk from producer Yoshiaki Koizumi per live stream. Attendees in Cologne, Germany, will also be able to play in the Metro Kingdom and Sand Kingdom ahead of the game’s launch on October 27th. On top of this, live presentations featuring product experts from Nintendo of Europe will also give detailed looks at previously announced titles for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS family systems, including Fire Emblem Warriors and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
The rest
However, it’s still too early to discuss about other big exhibitors, because more and more official news and plans will certainly be published in the coming days. We’re curious if Sony, which hasn’t been active at gamescom in a press conference since 2014, will shout loud this time; or if Ubisoft will still organize such a big act at gamescom as they did at E3 this year.
If you can’t attend the European biggest gaming trade fair in person, don’t be sad! Your live stream magazine whats live? will collect live streams from the gamescom 2017 for you and always keep you updated!
