Isn’t it weird, if robots can read our minds and know exactly, what we are thinking? This story may soon not only exist in science fictions, but also in real life.
According to Business Insider, Facebook intends to make a big investment in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR). The hardware “Building 8” team, which has been seen as the secret weapon of Facebook, is working on at least four projects, spanning everything from cameras and augmented reality to science fiction-like brain scanning technology.

Regina Dugan, former Head of Google ATAP, leads now the Facebook Building 8 team.
Although it isn’t a secret at all that Facebook keeps improving its technology day by day, in order to track its users’ history of internet surfing and behavior more accurately, but brain scanning operated by a social networking would definitely be an enormous progress in this area. And now this Facebook’s secretive and ambitious hardware group is preparing for its debut at “F8” Facebook Developer Conference on April 18 & 19, which will feature a wide range of topics across the Facebook family of apps and services – with relevance to developers and businesses, with sessions and experiences featuring the latest products and innovations.
However, it’s unfair to treat AI or AR always as weird or negative. Let’s imagine if robots or machines could read our minds, we would save much time and effort: we would receive the next nice restaurant with our favorite flavor, even if we are too picky sometimes. At work, we could, for example, also get diagrams or presentations done more quickly and optimally, making sure that we could exactly describe the ideas in our brain. But one thing shouldn’t be forgotten: We’re those who invented and developed those technologies, it means, no matter theoretically or physically we should manage to take them under control, so that we wouldn’t have to confront a war between human beings and robots in some decades.
More innovations waiting to be revealed at F8 2017
The presentation of Building 8 will certainly not be the unique highlight at the F8 conference. The social networking is planning to debut chatbots for users in Messenger group chats in San Jose, which will deliver you necessary information when required. In addition, VR and VR relevant technologies would be a main focus of the conference as well. Anyway, during this two-day activity, there will be more than 50 sessions with engineers and business experts around the world, creating enough opportunities for both them and the public to communicate and change information.
If you can’t make it to California, don’t be upset: the event will be also live streamed on the internet. As usual, you will find the live streams from the Facebook Developer Conference 2017 on April 18 & April 19 on whats live?.

Now – Just wait and see how far we’ve come with the technology developments.
