Instagram newest update releases a brand new feature which allows its users do live stream into their stories. At the first look it doesn’t seem to be any different to its „competitors“ Facebook Live or Periscope from Twitter, but there is one big difference. The live streams are not visible as an onDemand version after they were finished. This is the main difference to all the other services on the market, where you can watch the live stream at least for the next 24h as a replay.
It’s also possible to only direct the live stream to only those users you choose. They will then be able to watch the live stream twice before it disappears forever. Every user gets the possibility to chat with the broadcaster, and is able to send him hearts to show its appreciation, which is quite similar and already known from Periscope.
Instagram is going to add the „Explore“-Tab to its App to give everyone the opportunity to reach all of their 500 Million users. This creates a new dimension and way of live streaming and we are very excited to see how the feature is going to be developed in the future.
The service is called „Instagram Live“ and will be available in Germany next week.
