In der Nacht vom 28.2.16 auf den 29.2.16 werden die Oscars vergeben. Kann Leonardo DiCaprio seinen „Oskar-Fluch“ überwinden und Cate Blanchett ihren insgesamt dritten Oscar für ihre Hauptrolle in „Carol“ mit nach Hause nehmen? Auch ein Altstar kann sich Hoffnung auf seinen ersten Oscar machen.
Bald 40 Jahre (1979) nach seiner Nominierung als bester Hauptdarsteller „Rocky Balboa“ in dem ebenfalls nominierten Film „Rocky“, wurde Sylvester Stallone als bester Nebendarsteller nominiert. In dem Boxfilm „Creed“ , der gleichzeitig ein „Spin-off“ für die Rocky-Filme ist, spielt er den Trainer von Adonis Johnson, den Sohn seines ehemals großen Rivalen Apollo Creed. Scheinbar so überzeugend, das er sich mit 69 Jahren, Hoffnung auf seinen ersten Oscar machen kann.
Als beste Nebendarstellerin könnte Kate Winslet, für ihre Rolle als Marketingchefin „Joanna Hoffman“ in „Steve Jobs“, ihren zweiten Oskar mit nach Hause nehmen. Konkurrenz könnte ihr Rooney Mara machen, die in „Carol“ als Partnerin von Cate Blanchett, die Kritiker zu überzeugen wußte. Bei den weiteren Kategorien gibt es ein Kopf an Kopf Rennen zwischen „The Revenant“ ( mit 12 Nomierungen) und “Mad Max: Fury Road” (mit 10 Nominierungen). Schärfster Konkurrent von Leonardo DiCaprio als bester „Hauptdarsteller“, dürfte Michael Fassbender sein, der als „Steve Jobs“ (in dem gleichnamigen Film) Akzente setzen konnte.
