YouTube is a video-sharing website headquartered in San Bruno, California, United States. The service was created by three former PayPal employees in February 2005. For a long time YouTube is dominating the web when it comes to recorded video on demands of games, like play alongs or tutorials. But it is lagging far behind Twitch with its over 100 million monthly active viewers, when it comes to live streaming. That’s why Youtube launched, YouTube Gaming on August 26, 2015. YouTube Gaming is not trying to take over Twitch but wants to become an alternative to it by reminding people, that they don’t have to be the best skilled players to use their services. This seems to work out very well, which become clear if we take a look at the Top Trending Games of January on YouTube Gaming, which mostly are new releases.
The main reason why gamer should switch from Twitch to YouTube Gaming might be, because it is the only one stop destination for live and recorded gaming content – VOD and LIVE! But also Twitch is making it very easy for its users, by giving them the option to export their gameplay to YouTube and nearly every Twitch User does already have an existing YouTube account, which means they could immediately start streaming.
